The Title Unity Hours was inspired by the Books of Hours, spiritual reflections for lay people of the Middle Ages, now transported to musical meditations in the 21st century.
The Songs, Kiirtans and Instrumentals of 'Unity Hours III' are very dear to my heart, as they are connected to my home in Aotearoa, New Zealand they are my musical 'diary'. Most of these songs and Kiirtans were written at Te Henga Beach, on the West Coast of Auckland between 2011 and 2016, and recorded with Michael Lloyd as producer in 2018.
During lockdown, I recorded the Kiirtans to the Unity Hours III Song album in my studio at Sunrise Farm, Ireland, where I live at present with my little daughter Isabel and community. I added a few more instruments to the instrumental tracks, like the acoustic guitar, khol drum and percussion (thanks to Kavita Neumannova), and bamboo flute (thanks to Witek Kulczycki). Michael Lloyd made the magical mix.
In these albums, every song, every kiirtan tells a story: some of love, ecstatic joy and laughter, pain and surrender, searing longing and devotion.
Step across the threshold into a new world as we join together on this adventure into the blissful flow with Unity Hours III Kiirtans and Songs.
Immerse yourself in musical meditations: on starlight, tenderness, love and sincerity, beauty and gratitude, sweet longing, laughter and excitement, eternal love, strength, spiritual voices, surrender and service, pain of separation and devotion.
